Instructions to add your business to Google Local
For customers of the internet marketing company
Go to: http://www.google.com/local/add

Login with your Google account.
If you do not have one, register now. They have many online tools you can use on your website that we will be covering in upcoming newsletter.
Once you have logged in - Select Add New Business

Enter your company details into the form and click the NEXT button

This screen will ask you for details about your company.
Under Categories, you can enter up to 5 categories under which your business would be listed. We recommend that you enter all 5 by clicking “add another category”. Consider your keywords and categories of business your company should be listed under. For example a garage might enter: car servicing, garage, MOT testing, brakes, and tyres.
You also have the option of entering hours of business and payment type received.
Under Photos, we recommend that you attached your company logo. Once you browse for the logo file, click “add photo” for it to be included in your profile. If your image does not immediately appear, continue with the next step as it will appear later. If you do choose to add more images, add one at a time.
Click “Finish”

For security purposes, Google must validate the entry. This can be done through phone, SMS or via the post. We recommend that you validate via the phone or SMS as the postcard validation takes weeks. If you use the phone option, an automated call will be made and you must enter in a 4 digit number given to you onscreen. (If you change the number here, it will also change it in your profile.)Via SMS, you receive the 4 digit number and you must go online and enter that code.
That’s it!!!
Like every other aspect of search engine optimization, this doesn’t guarantee you a first page listing on Google. But all of these little steps combine to improve your position.
This process can be combined with other search engine optimization packages if you would like the internet marketing company to do it on your behalf. Just contact us for a free search engine optimisation consultation.
